Soul Shine Blues Festival

Money is tight and times are hard. Far too many people know all about the blues. They know the heartache, the sweat and tears – and the hope of a brighter day ahead. First Step: Family Violence Intervention Center and its clients have known the blues for years. But come Sept. 28, the agency will be set to rock, roll and soothe some souls at Soul Shine Blues Festival, its annual fundraiser. Doors open at 1 p.m. and performers are scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park Ballroom in Bascom. Admission is $20, with free admission to children under age 5. Headlining this year’s show are Lonnie Shields and Michael Charles.

THE FALL CLEAN UP AT FOUNTAIN CEMETERY IN FOSTORIA WILL TAKE PLACE ON OCTOBER 1ST. LOT OWNERS ARE ASKED TO REMOVE ALL SUMMER DECORATIONS FROM THEIR LOTS. ANY REMAINING ITEMS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE DIRECTLY ON THE STONE, WILL BE DISPOSED OF BY THE CEMETERY EMPLOYEES. LOT OWNERS ARE ASKED TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER OCTOBER 4TH BEFORE PLACING NEW FALL AND WINTER DECORATIONS ON THEIR LOTS.
