Homeschoolers in the Park, HPD, FINDLAY

: Living Life in the 1840s Register with $20 per child for the series or $3 per child for individual month by 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28 A program for homeschoolers about life in the 1840s will be held at the historic McKinnis House at Litzenberg Memorial Woods on Wednesday, November 4 from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM. Students will learn about life in 1847 with the help of costumed interpreters and by assisting the McKinnis family with hands on activities, such as daily chores. Living Life in the 1840s, which is the third class in a series is for children ages 9-13. Register with $3 per child by 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28. A medical form is required and available online and at the park office. The Homeschoolers in the Park program has classes scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month until June. Students explore different science based curriculum programs, such as earth, physical and life science. There will also be an outdoor recreation session. Each class will cover some of Ohio’s teaching standards in a fun and exciting way. Most of the classes will be held at Oakwoods Nature Preserve; however, other parks in Hancock County may be visited throughout the series. Register with $20 per child for the series or $3 per child for an individual month. This program will follow Findlay City Schools for cancellations due to weather. Photorealistic watercolor paintings by area residents will be on display at Wesley Memorial Art Gallery and Garden, October 1, 2015 through November 29th. They are students of Findlay, Ohio professional artist, Laura Barnhardt Corle. The Gallery, a member of the Fostoria Community Arts Council, is located at 1200 Van Buren St., Fostoria, in the handicapped accessible narthex of Wesley United Methodist Church.
