Tiffin, Ohio – Every year, almost 33,000 people are killed in motor vehicle crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car crashes are the leading cause of death from ages four through 30 years. Reineke’s Tiffin Ford Lincoln wants to encourage the community to drive safe by always wearing their seat belts. Reineke’s Tiffin Ford Lincoln is bringing the facts and statistics about vehicle safety to the Seneca county community on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4pm-7pm at Reineke’s Tiffin Dealership – 2020 W. St. Rt. 18. The event will include Local Law Enforcement vehicles on display with facts and statistics, as well as K9 Officer and partner demonstrations, car seat safety checks from the Tiffin Fire Dept., Ford vehicle safety demonstrations, Rodney Biggert as the magician, coloring area for children, and a children’s bicycle rodeo to learn about bike safety. Food will be provided by Reineke Family Dealerships and Jolly’s Drive-In as well as free missing child ID kits, and pledge forms to always buckle up. Reineke Family Dealerships would like to spread the importance of seat belt safety and to encourage everyone to always wear their seat belts. “We’re excited to host such an important event in our community as well as partnering with local organizations to help promote seat belt usage,” said Greg Dell, Marketing Manager at Reineke Family Dealerships. SAVE THE DATE… 2075! Historical Society Seeks Items for Time Capsule The Wood County Historical Society is seeking items for consideration to include in a 2016 Wood County time capsule, which will be placed inside the museum as accessibility construction draws to a close, leaving a legacy for future generations to enjoy and experience. Selected items will be placed into the Time Capsule, sealed, and placed inside the framework of the Museum at a special ceremony later this year, not to be removed until 2075 when the Museum celebrates its 100-year anniversary. Items should be three-dimensional (not paper), have some connection to Wood County or community history, and should not exceed 14” x 16” x 24.” Not all item suggestions submitted may be selected. Donors must be from or live in Wood County. The deadline to submit items for suggestion is June 1, 2016. For more information about submitting items for consideration to the 2016 time capsule, visit woodcountyhistory.org or call the museum at 419-352-0967. Museum Director Dana Nemeth will host a special Time Capsule-making Information Session at the Wood County Historical Museum on Saturday, April 2. Walk-ins welcome between the hours of 1-4 PM. The Museum will also be open for self-guided tours with a suggested donation. There will be no additional charge for the Time Capsule session. Also that day, the Northwest Ohio Blacksmith Association will have their annual forge demonstration at the Historical Center Blacksmith Shop from 9 AM – 2 PM. This event is free.
